La estación de esquí más cercana al área metropolitana de Denver y una de las pocas en Colorado que ofrece esquí nocturno. Se llega por la I-70 durante un par de millas, a menos que se tome la ruta larga vía Idaho Springs. Tiene un ambiente acogedor y familiar, a diferencia de otras estaciones de esquí mucho más grandes que hay más adelante. Es un buen lugar para principiantes y para personas como yo que llevaban más de dos años sin esquiar y querían retomar la práctica.

Jeremiah fue de gran ayuda para elegir y probarme las botas de esquí, y Timm fue un instructor excelente y muy amable. Hay un telesilla para esquiadores intermedios y avanzados, y una escalera mecánica para principiantes. El ambiente en las pistas y en el restaurante es muy agradable. Te indican dónde aparcar, e incluso en un día concurrido, la espera para recoger el equipo de alquiler fue corta. Es mejor comprar los forfaits y el alquiler de equipo al menos un día antes. Una excursión de un día perfecta desde el norte de Colorado Springs o Denver. Solo hay que recorrer unos 8 km por la I-70. Si viajas con niños, puedes esperar pasar aproximadamente el 50% del tiempo esquiando o haciendo snowboard, ¡todo un récord para mí! Las estaciones con Epic Pass te dan entre un 20% y un 30% de tiempo en las pistas si quieres aprovechar al máximo el día, aunque el tráfico de regreso por la I-70 puede ser terrible. Es un negocio familiar, el ambiente es muy relajado, ¡no puedo creer que todavía existan lugares así!

Me reuní con unos amigos y su hija de dos años para ir a hacer tubing. Llegué una hora y media antes y estuve veinte minutos en el estacionamiento intentando comprar un boleto en línea. No pude y entré. Me dijeron que no se podían comprar boletos de menos de dos horas en línea y que el precio había subido de $29 a $42 ¡POR UNA HORA! Pregunté si podía comprar un boleto para la siguiente hora y usar el tubing en ese momento. NO. Cabe mencionar que era miércoles por la tarde y las pistas estaban completamente vacías. Pero ni una sola excepción, ni un ápice de consideración, ni un "no pasa nada, estamos vacíos, te vendemos uno de $29". ¡Para nada! Le pregunté a dos empleados diferentes... la misma actitud indiferente.
Sinceramente, la pista de tubing no vale $29 la hora y definitivamente no vale $42 la hora. No recomiendo para nada Echo Mountain.

It's a great deal! Fun place for a quick family trip! The tube sledding is awesome! and so is the food!!

Echo is a rather beginner to intermediate practice mountain with 2-3 runs and one ski lift. It's not a place where you would want to go on a multi-day trip, but is better suited for the local Denver resident or an intermediate skier trying to get some practice in before heading to the big resorts. The food and bar is adequate and is relatively inexpensive. You will have fun, but not for long.

No Veteran's passes = I will not renew this year. Overpriced for what you get by far. Dangerous for beginners and on crowded days not infrequent to see skis and snowboards flying down the hill and airborn which is extremely dangerous!
Not recomendable unless you are intermediate and above and willing to swivel head the entire time onslope to avoid loose skis ans people out of control.

I took my parents here over the recent holiday week to refresh them after a 15 year break from skiing. The staff were helpful and friendly, the slopes were the perfect difficulty for getting their ski legs back, and there were enough steeper sections to keep me entertained as well. We got in for first chair, and didn't really face any crowd whatsoever for several hours.
Only downside was the single trail to the only lift. Its a moderately difficult green, and it proved too difficult for a large number of first time skiers who attempted it as the day wore on. By the end of our visit, the hardest challenge was dodging snowboarders wiped out on the way. This was likely more to do with the time of year than the resort, though, and overall it was still an amazing experience.
If you are a competent green skier at nearby resorts like Loveland, this could be the perfect place to improve and prepare for harder trails. You cannot beat the price or proximity to Denver, so I know I'll be back a few times this season!

WOW! Echo...what an experience! I tried calling Echo Mountain about 8 or 10 times over a 2 day period. Never got an answer. They just don't answer the phone there so I couldn't tell if they were open or get info. There website was also up and down. When I was finally able to open the website I found some old info on it from last year and the answers to my questions were not listed. They are simply way over priced for what you actually get and therefore a poor value. In addition, they don't offer any senior pricing that most all other ski areas (both large and small) do. I took a chance and drove up to Echo anyway and to my surprise they were open. I told ticket office staff of my frustrations and inability to contact them. The staff person's curt answer was that they are a very small area and just can't get to everything. (Note: I'm a single person business and have managed to stay in business for 30 years by handling everything by myself including phone answering) Echo was the 23rd of a total of 28 ski areas that I plan to ski yet this year in Colorado. And some areas I've skied so far are about the same size as Echo. Conclusion: All things considered, through my online and actual on the snow research, I find that Echo is without a doubt the worst ski area I have visited so far this year in Colorado. I give them a score of a generous one star.
