Great hill. If you are a local probably even better, which seems to be the vibe. Tougher than average terrain so that keeps the baby boomer skiiers to a min. Words out on the snow so it's really crowded on a powder day, lots of ski bums, locals etc drop everything and pound the hill on those days. Backcountry is excellent for the high adventurers. Food is excellent, good luck getting a seat on a busy day if you are not a regular. Definitely worth a stop on the powder highway. Second visit, we were there 2 years ago and the crowds were noticeably bigger. Also this isn't a massive place so unless doing side trips or back country skiing a solid week we get old imo. If powder isn't your bag than skiing here on now pow days is excellent, less crowds with good solid base. Wish they stayed open longer into April

Whitewater is a hidden gem in the kootenays. Everything you expect from skiing experience you can find there.

Cute little mountain. Wanted so much to like this place. After talking to locals, anything over about 25 cm and everyone and their mother shows up. Have been here a few times over the last 3 seasons (start of a cat skiing week), and disappointed every single time. The terrain in bounds gets tracked up very quickly due to the small resort size and number of people on powder day. Yes they have crazy terrain...nice glades, boulders, cliffs all sorts of natural features. The side country terrain looks amazing. Lodge is "rustic" and well-worn, but come on, who goes to places for that? This mountain is certainly about the riding and skiing. Just so crowded for a little place. Tracked up by mid-morning. A few days after a storm and forget about finding pockets or secret stashes. It is likely a great hill for the local peeps, but definitely not worth a fly-to.
Amazing expert terrain
Gets tracked out quickly and crowded for such a small hill

If you've heard of places like Retallack and Baldface, then you're familiar enough with the Nelson area's reputation. Nelson is just as well known as a pot-growing area, and the overall vibe is rootsy—comparing Whitewater to Revelstoke is like comparing Baker to Whistler. Reasonable prices for tickets and food, and easily the best and healthiest options of any resort anywhere. Not young family- or beginner-friendly with the novice slopes served by a sketchy two-person lift with a bar down the middle and an unloading area designed by MC Escher. The level of the locals is beyond anywhere else. Expect to see lots of kids throwing backies and sevens off of natural hits. The park is not at all built-up or maintained, so they have adapted to the ramps available to them! If you know how to ski very well, this stop on the Powder Highway is already on your bucket list. If you want heated gondolas, martinis, and crowds, look elsewhere.
Great snow. Best back- and side-country.
Poor lift infrastructure. Park is awful.

Becoming corporate and faceless like many ski hills after expansion, Whitewater is now attracting way too many people for its lackluster infrastructure. Yes, the snow conditions are usually among the best in Canada, but powder is no longer easy to score on powder days with ridiculously long lines, not to mention the numerous privileged people (workers, owners, and their friends, even the occasional special paying guests) track up the mountains before the lifts are open. Lodge and parking are also stretched beyond their limits on busy days. The ski hill also closes earlier than any other in BC in the spring despite having the deepest snowpack than most.
decent snow
long lift lines and not much inbound terrain

Most amazing authentic ski resort in Britsh-Columbia. Huge quality of snow and really nice working staff.

I absolutely love Whitewater Ski resort. Had my first snowboard experiences here and cannot imagine a resort un smoother. The people are very friendly, and everytime feels like coming home. As a foreigner I only wish I would be able to visit every year, but it gives me a great sense of inspiration to work hard and play hard...on the slopes!!
Hidden gem

Overall an amazing place to visit for a day or a season. a unique experience, as this local hill has a different feel to other big commercial resorts. you might not have all the amenities of the big resorts but you can hitch up, leave your bag in the lodge all day safely and get deep pow runs until your legs can't handle anymore!
overall amazing mountain with great terrain for even the most advanced snow enthusiast. awesome friendly local vibe, great food and good value. short to no lift lines and fresh pow for days if you know where to go!!
Slow lifts, needs a lot of snow fall early for a good base, little to no park.
