Cheap (sr. ticket) and close to home. It’s not Boyne or the big resorts out east or west, but one can keep up their skills there. Always good bargains in the ski shop at the end of season! Food good, usually a band on the weekends. I’ve always enjoyed myself there and it’s 45” away from home.

Over all, good considering the options mid Ohio has to offer. The Loft Bar and concessions are over priced and the fluctuation of services are ridiculous. We visited with family and met up at the Loft on Sat. 12-23-17. We decided to have only a few drinks considering the cost. We were charged $8.00 / mixed drink, although very weak, didn't taste too bad. Later that night chose to have one more and was told it was $9.00. (?) Same day, same drink. On 12-25-17 We visited again 5-9:30pm. Again, same drink $9.00 and it tasted like pure soda. If there was any Rum in it at all, you couldn't taste it or smell it. We have spent $100's at Mad River already this season and this makes me feel like not making the hour drive ever again. This may have been a training issue or some innocent mistake, but I feel any reputable establishment should have set guidelines in place, like minimum poor requirements and set pricing for starters.

Overall the perfect place to have fun and hang out with friends or sometimes they have family fun days. EMT skiers constantly patrolling down and around the mountain to help if people have fallen and need help. Not the biggest resort but a decent size with good trails and on weekends they stay open till 2 am and have a nice new bar in the upstairs loft, they have bands and fireworks too so its worth it.

We did the tubing on a Saturday afternoon. Wasn't the first time we had been there. The previous times there were quite a few more staff at the top of the tubing lanes to launch people down the lanes and maintain order. This time there might have been one staff for every 2.5 lanes. A lot of line ditching. Nothing spoils the day more than waiting for the long line to get up to the top only to be cut in front of several times. One of the staff witnessed one of the cuts and came over to apologize on behalf of the four women who cut in front. More staff would prevented this problem since each lane did not have a staff babysitting it. Would love to rate this place higher but for the price and the experience I have to give it an overall 2 out of 5.

Best place in Ohio to ski.

Nice if you consider it's in Ohio!

Probably the best place you'll find in Ohio to ski/ board. That said, for boasting the "Best Park in the Midwest" I think their jump line is awful. Not the kickers, but the knuckles. Knuckles should be rounded and the pitch of the landing should match the whip of the jump. These are foreign concepts for the Mad River crew. They build massively over whipped kickers and long, sharp knuckles without much runup. Their landings are shaped more like quarter pipes than a rolling knuckle. Overshoot by a marginal speed and you will land flat. Catch knuckle and you will bounce one time and then land on the flat. Rails are good though (probably because they don't require shaped landings). I've gone to Mad River for years and the only hittable jump they ever make is for their Big Air Contests. Also expensive on weekends.
